Chronographie XII is published
Chronographie XII (2019) is my second piece composed for violin, clarinet and piano, the first is Runes (same publisher). Many composers used this interesting instrumental combination (Stravinsky, Bartók, Milhaud, Sculthorpe…), and I was very happy when the Erämaa Trio asked to compose a new piece for him.
World Premiere by this ensemble 24th November 2019 in Salon Bugrane (Brussels, Belgium).
New CD: Beryllium
Beryllium brings together a lyric soprano, a composer and an author (Alain Van Kerckhoven) around four songs inspired by alchemy: the alchemist’s work on matter is also work on himself. The transmutation operates as much on the content of the crucible as on the alchemist. The process here is more operative than symbolic, more sensual than intellectual. This coherence of texts, music and interpretation makes this project a concept album but also a milestone in my career.
This CD is performed by Yuhmi Suke Iwamoto (soprano), Lionel Bams (piano), Jean-Frédéric Molard (violin I), Red Gjeci (violin II), Kela Canka (viola), Hans Vandaele (violoncello), Marc Grauwels (flute) and Jean-Marc Fessard (clarinet).
